Stretches 6 1/2 miles between hwy 104 and Hwy 114 from Scotts Hill to Sardis, Usually held last weekend in April.
Annual Peace Chapel Rd Yard Sale
Stretches 3 miles between Hwy 100 and Hwy 114 on the east side of Scotts Hill and is usually held last weekend in May.
Memorial Day Observance
Held the last Monday in May at Veterans Memorial in the City Park.
Usually held in October.
HISTORY OF SCOTTS HILL APPRECIATION DAYS
The first “Scotts Hill Appreciation Day” celebration was in the fall of 1982. It was a one day event. The idea for the event evolved from the previous year at an anniversary celebration staged by two stores in Scotts Hill.
Bands entertained with gospel, country and pop music. Arts and crafts and flea market booths were set up. Kettle stew was made, refreshments were provided, prizes were given away throughout the day. A live radio remote was there all day. A large crowd attended and had lots of fun.
The statement was made that it would be nice if all the merchants of Scotts Hill would join together and do the same thing at the city park as a reward to their customers; a show of appreciation for their loyalty and support for the year. Wham! Reckon that is where the name “Appreciation Day” came from? Anyway, a group of volunteers got together ( forming what is now referred to as the Appreciation Day Committee ) talked to the Scotts Hill merchants and concerned citizens –- got enough donations and support to organize the event.
It was an immediate success. Through lots of hard work and dedication by several people the event has grown each year. There has been a wide variety of activities throughout the years. We have had some flops – lots of criticisms – but are proud of what we have accomplished. We try to add something new each year while holding to our old values.
